How To Become An Investor

Become an investor in the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE)

To become an investor on DSE, you must create an investor number, which is an identification number for investors that is issued by DSE. Through this number, all transactions on the Exchange can be initiated, including buying, selling and transferring securities.

Investors can apply for the issuance of an investor number through one of the following service channels:

DSE Mobile App for national ID holders and foreign investors

Licensed Brokerage Firms

The DSE office at Exchange Tower, NHC Morocco Square, Dar es Salaam

The government e-services portal using your national ID.

Condition for applicants

  • The applicant or his / her legal representative must be present in person when submitting a transaction for issuing an investor number or using the smart application.
  • The applicant's age must be above 18 years old.

Documents required to issue an investor number

  • Original national ID card (for citizens and residents).
  • Passport and ID card for foreigners not resident in the country.
  • Bank account letter, provided the account is solely in the name of the applicant and not a joint account.
  • A valid business licence copy (original for review).
  • Company incorporation documents.
  • Board of directors list for the last certified period.
  • A letter listing all authorised signatories.
  • Bank account letter.
  • Approval letter from the regulator to start portfolio activity.
  • A copy of the portfolio issuer's commercial licence (original for review).
  • Names and signatures of authorised people, with their powers.
  • Portfolio prospectus.
  • Bank account letter.
  • A copy of the free-zone licence (original for review).
  • Board members list for the last certified period.
  • A letter listing the authorised signatories.
  • Bank account letter.

Documents issued outside the country must be notarized and authenticated by:

  • The Embassy of the country in which the document was issued.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country that issued the document.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country.
